2018-10-31 Press Release - Obici Healthcare Foundation Rolls Out Important NEW Early Childhood Education Initiative For Children In Western Tidewater
What if every young child in Virginia had the education foundation he or she needs for success in school and life? This goal is at the core of the new early childhood education initiative and partnership between the Obici Healthcare Foundation and the University of Virginia for young children in Western Tidewater.

The Obici Healthcare Foundation has awarded over $46 million in grants since 2006. The fall 2018 grant awards total over $1.3M and represent funding to 9 nonprofit partners serving Western Tidewater and Gates County, North Carolina. “Grants awarded in this funding cycle have a one-year timeline to ensure these partnerships continue as we transition to a new strategic grantmaking focus,” said CEO Annette Beuchler.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce grants awarded at over $798,000 to nine nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said R. Scott Carr, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among the renewed grantees range from $20,062.50 to $200,000.00.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $1.5 million in grants to 14 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said R. Scott Carr, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $24,733.00 to $530,000.00.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $1.75 million in grants to 19 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said, R. Scott Carr, Foundation chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $15,000.00 to $268,395.

The Board of the Obici Healthcare Foundation announces the Foundation’s new CEO, Annette C. Beuchler, MBA, FACHE. Ms. Beuchler comes to the Obici Healthcare Foundation with considerable philanthropic experience. She currently serves as the Director of Programs & Communications at The Rapides Foundation of Louisiana. The Rapides Foundation is a healthcare legacy foundation with assets of $250M that serves a nine-parish area of Central Louisiana.

The Obici Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $15,562.00, one-year grant to Tidewater Community College’s Academy for Nonprofit Excellence, a new program grantee of the Foundation. Improving the capacity of our grantees is an important goal of the Obici Healthcare Foundation. This grant funds a new pilot program targeted specifically for nonprofit organizations’ senior staff and will provide timely, relevant information relating to volunteer management, personnel, organizational change and board topics. This pilot program is projected to serve between 15 and 30 nonprofit executives.

The Obici Healthcare Foundationannounces the retirement of Rick Spencer, effective August 15, 2016. Rick joined the Foundation in August of 2008 and his cooperative nature was key to the early organization, success and subsequent good work at the Foundation. The Obici Healthcare Foundation (2006 – 2016) is celebrating a decade of health improvement.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $2.3 million in grants to 29 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said J. Samuel Glasscock, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $10,000 to $357,859.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $2 million in grants to 18 nonprofitorganizations serving Western Tidewater,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $15,000 to $500,000.
“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $2.2 million in grants to 21 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $15,000 to $350,000.
"The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $2.4 million in grants to 33 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater," said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $7,500 to $553,363.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of $1.7 million in grants to 24 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $16,490 to $200,000. "The Foundation Board of Directors and staff are excited by the quality of the programs being offered by this group of grantees committed to providing care in the Foundation’s service area," Mr. Birdsong added.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of $2.2 million in grants to 28 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $11,250 to $500,000.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of $1.7 million in grants to 20 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater and Gates County, NC,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $20,000 to $250,000.

“The Obici Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of $1.582 million in grants to 26 nonprofit organizations serving Western Tidewater,” said George Y. Birdsong, Foundation Chairman. Award amounts among new and renewed grantees range from $15,000 to $450,000.
